The proprietor, Jamie Fonfe, started out his mechanical career as an apprentice with a Land Rover main dealer in the UK. Once completing his apprenticeship, armed with the excellent training in diagnostics and maintenance from the Land Rover technical academy he decided that it was time to get into performance. This required a move from the main dealer network to a local performance and dyno workshop to obtain the experience and skills required to work in the highly competitive performance network. After some time an opportunity then arose for a position in a local Ford dealer. Jamie jumped at the chance to work with the new RS and ST models, being at the forefront of technology with the RS brand whilst the vehicles were brand new; an opportunity too good to miss. From seizing this opportunity, experience with other Ford performance vehicles also came along, working on Ford RS, Cosworth and Ford Racing branded vehicles such as the ultra rare Racing Puma and RS500 Focus soon became a day to day occurrence. After the boom of rapid RS sales, Jamie looked to further branch out his experience within the Jaguar Land Rover and Ford network. The result was running a parts department for a Land Rover Defender custom build workshop. Organising parts for full bare chassis rebuilds with modifications proved to be a rewarding experience that worked well given his mechanical background.

Jamie then decided to further his fabrication skills; looking to move away from the UK he enrolled in a Motorsports course in Victoria, Australia. This enabled him to fine tune his basic fabrication skills from mild steel to stainless and alloy fabrication, motorsport based data logging, competition vehicle prep and CAD whilst working part time for Australia’s only Cosworth importer.

Armed with the past experience and training gained in the UK and in Australia, it was noted that Australia nationally and QLD as a state still lacked a workshop and parts center that specialised in European Ford performance vehicles that could deliver high quality work day in day out and was always willing to take on the unknown.

OEM Denied Performance was born.
