Bosch ME9 & MEDG17.0 ECU RecoverY & cloning

ECU Recovery
If you have interrupted a tune load by knocking the cables or battery voltage has dropped mid load the ECU is usually left with no data on it at all.
This is commonly known as "bricking the ECU"
It can be recovered via 2 methods:

OBD2 Port programming:

Visit to a Ford dealer or a workshop with Ford dealer software such as ourselves.
The ECU can be re-flashed via the OBD2 port with factory data but you must have 2 working keys in order to do this programming as the original key coding will be dropped from the ECU as part of the re-flash process.  If you only have 1 working key, a 2nd must be purchased and programmed as the programming of a module is not possible with only 1 working key being present due to Fords security restrictions.

Direct to ECU board recovery:
This method is more intrusive than the OBD2 port method but has 2 major advantages:
1. It can be done via mail order. Simply remove the ECU from the vehicle and post it to us.
2. The original security programming is retained so you do not need to have more than 1 working key.

ECU Cloning
If you wish to run an aftermarket tune from the UK that requires the ECU to be enabled to accept the tune (eg RS mk2 J.W. Racing tunes) it can be annoying to be without your ECU for more than a week whilst it is shipped to the UK , enabled, then shipped back.
As a work around to keep you driving your car whilst you wait we can clone the data from your ECU onto a spare one so that it can be shipped instead.
As both ECUs will have the exact same data on them you can simply unplug one and plug the other in once you get it back.
This service is offered for the Focus & Mondeo XR5 Turbo, Focus RS mk2, Focus RS mk3, Focus ST mk3.
We offer both methods of ECU recovery and ECU cloning via mail order or in person at the workshop with a usual turn around of 24 hours.

P0420 DTC removal

If a vehicle's catalytic converter is replaced with a sports version that has a lower cell rating for increased flow, the ECU often triggers DTC P0420 catalyst efficiency below threshold.
This is turn brings on the engine light as the ECU thinks the factory cat is still in place and isn't working properly.
For Focus mk3 RS/ST owners this has become a bit of an issue lately as the most popular tuning platform for these models Cobb has recently removed tuners ability to switch this DTC off resulting in new tunes having the annoying engine light.
We can remove this engine light for you without you having to change tuners .
This can be done in person via the OBD2 port or remotely if the ECU is posted to us
